  1. This brings back memories from my early childhood when my brother went missing at Jones Beach (Long Island, NY). We had to finally drive home without him. My mother, of course, was inconsolable, but I knew my brother Jonathan very well, and I knew he was just too smart to get himself into an serious trouble in the waves- he was very careful. I also knew he was a wanderer, and probably had just gotten lost. Turned out I was right- he’d wandered over to another field, and they found him. Everyone was so relieved- but I was like “See? I told you!”

  2. Here in the UK it’s illegal to jump off a bridge into water.
I personally think people who swim after lifeguards are gone, let’s say 7:30/8pm max, should get fined.
I understand it’s a beach, but there has to be a line, surely. They’re wasting emergency services time n resources..
