Epic Lightning storm hits Bondi Beach, Sydney, Australia

A thunderstorm that formed near the Sydney CBD created a lightshow over Sydney, with thousands of bolts striking in many directions. The storm was rotating for some time as it moved slowly out to sea.

The storm continued for over 2 hours throwing out cloud to cloud and cloud to ground lightning bolts.

A number on Anvil Crawlers were also noted.

  1. Thank you very much for shareing, I wish i could have been up there to witness this.

7:20 Red light out at sea, Acting like a ship can you confirm if it was ?

Spectacular shots its a shame that your camera picks up far too much light at first glance.

Great work though on the video editing as well.

    1. Have a look closer, and when theres brighter flashes, anyways it looks like it could be a bouy but it doesnt always show up and sometimes it shows up as 2 lights.

    2. I just wanted to confirm thats all, but i do thank you for telling me. Great show once again. 3.5 hours away :(, dang it lol.

    3. I was thinking at first it was some lens flare.. its actually a Buoy which I believe is the shark detection system

  2. Talk about a Grandstand view! Fantastic, thanks for sharing 😀 (and no whooping and hollering so loved by others!)

  3. On the Solar Wind density gauge the scale runs from 1 to 20. From 15 to 20 it is classed as severe. On the 7th. Dec. at 15.13 gmt the digital reading was 26.2 p/cu. cm. My guess is that this is a discharge from our magnetosphere. Notice the lack of thunder. !!!

  4. Weren’t you scared being outside? I’m jealous. We get about one lightning bolt a year here in San Francisco. I’m not kidding. We never get thunderstorms.

    1. thank you very much, my dream camera…. out of my price range, wish they would develope a slightly cheaper model, keep up the good work, hope you have a great plains season.
