  1. A tragic day at the beach. In line with our message of surf safety we urge you (and your friends and family) to learn about rips, how to spot them and how to get out of them. If you’d like to learn more about rips, Lifeguard Jethro has some tips here:

    1. This show and Bondi Rescue already teached me important lessons. I life 8 hours away from the coast, so I’ve never heard about Rips before and also wasn’t aware of the flags and their meaning. So next time I’m on vacation I will be aware of that.

  2. Maybe I’m heartless but I just don’t feel bad for people that go swimming, but can’t swim. I do feel bad for the family and friends though.

  3. Dont play with the sea its a dangerous place ankle deep is all I go in all my year I’ve never gone into the sea/ocean I am one great swimmer put will never take a chance in the sea

    1. The best bet is to assess the risk very well and ask locals about possible dangers. If you are not sure you can swim in a spot just get a life jacket. It can be quite fun as well to be in a life jacket.
